Rights
Function overview
This function allows for the individual configuration of sound recording entitlements and origin. The configuration is done directly through the interface — there is no need to use the Sound recording template.
To report entitlements in bulk, select Sound recordings/Upload New and follow the instructions provided there.
To configure entitlements individually, go to Sound recordings/My sound recordings and use the Rights action. In the My sound recordings – Rights window, you can view and manage the entitlements assigned to the selected sound recording.
Use this function if:
- The newly registered recording is entitled in more than one entitlement period.
- The rights have changed (e.g. due to sale, purchase, etc.).
- The recording was mistakenly registered as your own, and you wish to relinquish your rights.
- The origin of the recording was entered incorrectly.
My sound recordings – Rights
At the top of the window, a gray bar displays the performer, title, and version of the selected recording. The window shows the rights and origin of the recording in a table format, which you can edit.
For details on managing tables, see: Table handling.
Table columns:
- Attainment (start date): The date the entitlement begins. (If left blank, you are considered entitled from the beginning until the end date.)
- Expiration (end date): The last day of entitlement. (If left blank, the entitlement never expires.)
- Share rate: Your ownership percentage during the given period.
- Origin: Domestic or foreign.
The table contains as many rows as there are entitlement periods for the sound recording. In most cases, there is only one period, but if rights were temporarily transferred and later reclaimed, multiple periods may exist. The origin is the same across all rows.
Withdrawing claims
To fully withdraw your rights to a recording, click the Withdrawing claim action above the table. The system will ask for confirmation. If you confirm, the sound recording will be removed from the list. If the withdrawal was a mistake and the sound recording is still yours, you must re-register it.
Modifying rights
Use the table to modify rights. Changes made in the table are temporary until you click the Save button. This means you can undo changes before saving.
For details on entering rights periods, see: My Recordings/New sound recording – Rights.
To add a new period:
- Click the
New row action above the table.
- In the new row, set the entitlement period and share rate.
To delete an entitlement period:
- Use the
Delete action in the row’s Action column.
- Deleting a period means relinquishing rights for that period.
- If the period was already in the table (not newly added), it will be grayed out and a
Undo action will appear next to it.
- If the period was newly added, it will be removed from the list entirely.
To modify a period:
- Select the row and adjust the start and end dates.
To modify the entitlement share rate:
- Select the row and update the percentage.
To modify the origin:
- Change the origin in any row — this will update all rows to match.
Error and warning messages
During modification, you may receive red error messages or yellow warnings.
- Errors (cannot save until resolved):
- There is an overlap between two intervals: periods must not overlap.
- Mark continuous intervals together: Continuous periods must be entered as one.
- Start date must be earlier than end date.
- Minimum duration is 2 days: 1-day entitlements are not allowed.
- Warnings (can still save):
- Double claim: conflicting with rights holder: the period overlaps with another entitled rights holder.
Finalizing Changes
If you decide not to proceed, click the Back button to discard changes and return to the recording list.
Once all changes are complete and no errors are present, confirm your criminal liability declaration and click Save .
- If there are no conflicts, changes will be saved immediately.
- If conflicts exist (as indicated by warnings), a confirmation dialog will appear. Changes will only be saved if you click Yes . Clicking No returns you to the modification screen.
After saving, the system redirects you to the sound recording list.
