Rights
Only one entitlement period can be specified here. If the sound recording is subject to multiple entitlement periods, you can add the additional periods after the recording has been registered. See below for further instructions.
- Attainment: start date of rights
- By default, this matches the original release date of the sound recording.
- If the rights were acquired through other means (e.g. purchase, publishing agreement), enter the date the agreement was made.
- Future dates may be entered, but must not exceed the current date plus 10 years.
- Expiration (of mandate): end date of rights, last day of validity
- If the original producer or publisher still holds the rights, leave the field blank.
- If the rights were acquired through other means (e.g. purchase, publishing agreement):
- For open-ended agreements, leave the field blank
- For fixed-term agreements, enter the expiration date of the agreement.
- Share rate: The percentage of ownership held by the rights holder during the specified period. Leaving this field blank implies 100% ownership. Valid percentage is between 1 and 100.
To register the sound recording, confirm your criminal liability declaration, and use the New button. After completing the action, the system returns to the sound recording list, which now includes the newly added item.
If you change your mind at any point, you can discard the entered data by clicking the Cancel button. This will return you to the sound recording list.
If the newly registered sound recording has more than one entitlement period, locate the sound recording in the recording list after registration and use the Rights action. Then follow the instructions described in the Rights section.
