Accessing the function

In the Sound recordings/My sound recordings menu, select the sound recording, then use the Details action followed by the New stored variant action.

Function overview

This function allows the entitled party to register the sound recording with new data (e.g. if the recording has been included on a new album, etc.).

To add a new stored variant, you must complete the My sound recordings – New stored variant window that appears.

My sound recordings – New stored variant

The window displays the performer, title, and version that identify the sound recording, pre-filled. You are adding a new stored version for this recording. These three key fields can only be modified to a limited extent, as long as their hash value matches the original.

The following modifications are allowed, for example:

  • correcting accent errors
  • inserting or removing special characters or spaces
  • changing lowercase/uppercase letters

If you leave a modified field and the change results in a hash different from the original, a red error message appears next to the field: Not the same recording.

Fill in the remaining fields of the form with the desired data. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.

New variant data

  • ISRC: The ISRC code of the sound recording
  • Album: The album containing the sound recording
  • Producer of sound recording: The producer of the sound recording
  • Original release date: The official original release date of the sound recording. Select using the calendar.
  • Length: The duration of the sound recording (in hh:mm:ss format)
  • Genre: Select the genre of the recording from the dropdown list
  • Comment: Additional information you may freely provide for the recording

If you decide not to add the new stored variant, you can discard the form at any time using the Cancel button and return to the list of stored variants.

If the form is completed correctly, you can temporarily add the new stored variant to the My sound recordings – Stored variants of the sound recording list using the  OK  button. The system will return to the list of stored variants, where the newly added variant is displayed, too.

Important

The new stored variant will only be permanently saved if you confirm the changes using the  Save  button in the stored variants list.

See: Stored variants of the sound recording/Confirming modifications.
